Sea of Thieves has no community servers, so HTG is where you find a crew. Post what ship you want to sail and what you want to do, swap gamertags, and set sail together.
How we crew up
- Xbox friends, on every platform. Everyone signs in with a Microsoft account, PC and PlayStation included, and invites run through Xbox friends.
- Closed Crew. The captain sets sail with a Closed Crew and invites the others, so a stranger can't take the empty slot.
- Custom Seas for events. One server for a whole HTG event: up to 24 players in 6 crews. Events are on the events page and in Discord.
- Guilds later. HTG founds its own guild once there are members to fill it.
The step-by-step playbook is pinned in the game's Discord channel once you've joined.
Platforms
PC (Steam and Xbox app), Xbox and PlayStation 5. Crossplay has to be on for PC and console players to crew together.
Fair play
Rare has zero tolerance for cheats and third-party tools, and its code of conduct forbids teaming in competitive modes like Hourglass. We don't organise it. HTG never puts Sea of Thieves content behind a payment. More in publisher rules.
